June 20: Gus, a pedigree Chinese Crested from St. Petersburg, Fla., competes in the 2008 World's Ugliest Dog Contest in Petaluma, Calif.
Beauty pageants have gone to the dogs.
A one-eyed, three-legged Chinese Crested won the 2008 World’s Ugliest Dog Contest on Friday at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, Calif., the PressDemocrat.com reported.
"Big buckets of drool get extra points," radio station KZST emcee Brent Farris said in the story. "So do missing limbs."
With his tongue dangling out of his mouth, Gus, who also suffers from skin cancer, won top pedigree over 14 fellow underdogs, even though the St. Petersburg, Fla., pooch slept in the arms of his owner, Jeanenne Teed, during much of the three-hour event, the PressDemocrat.com reported.
