GREENBELT, Md. —  A youth football coach from East Baltimore has been sentenced to 6 1/2 years in prison for using a loaded gun to intimidate a referee during a game last year in Montgomery County.

Prosecutors say Aaron McCown was an assistant coach during a game last September that was ended early by a referee because of the team's inappropriate behavior.

Authorities say McCown threatened the referee, then went to the parking lot and returned with a bag that contained a pistol loaded with four rounds of ammunition.

No shots were fired.

McCown pleaded guilty in March to a charge of knowingly receiving an explosive, the .45-caliber pistol.
