Three Seriously Hurt After Sky Diver Crashes Into Crowd at Israeli Independence Day Event

TEL AVIV, Israel —  A parachutist has accidentally landed in a crowd during a festive skydive marking Israel's 60th independence day.

Medics say three people were seriously injured and four were lightly hurt in Thursday's accident on a Tel Aviv beach. TV footage shows the parachutist gliding toward the edge of the crowd and colliding with people as he hits the ground. Later, the wounded were rushed away on stretchers. One woman had a bloodied neck.

Israel marked its 60th independence day Thursday. Festivities including naval parades, air force fly overs and the military's parachute jump over Tel Aviv.
