ISTANBUL, Turkey —  Turkey once again has blocked access to the popular video-sharing Web site YouTube.

State-run media say a court in Ankara ordered the ban in response to videos that it deemed insulting to Kemal Ataturk, the Turkish national leader who died seven decades ago.

There was no immediate comment from YouTube on the ban order.

Turkey briefly imposed bans on access to YouTube on similar grounds in the past, but access was restored after the Web site removed the videos.

Under Turkish law, it is a crime to insult Ataturk. He is a war hero who founded Turkey from the ruins of the Ottoman Empire.
