Boy, 8, Dies When Soccer Goal Falls on Him

PHOENIX — Phoenix police say an 8-year-old boy has died after a soccer goal post fell on him during a game.
Detective Stacie Derge says Gabriel Mendoza was playing goalie at the South Mountain YMCA Thursday afternoon when the goal post fell as he played on it. He died about an hour later at a local hospital.
The incident is being investigated as an accidental death.
