Dismembered Body Found in Southwestern Colorado

Thursday, May 01, 2008

CORTEZ, Colo. —  Montezuma County investigators say they found dismembered body parts in several places across the county, some encased in concrete.

They arrested the son of a missing man on suspicion of murder.

Sheriff Gerald Wallace said Thursday that 20-year-old Jeremiah Raymond Berry is being held under $500,000 bail.

Other relatives reported Berry's father, 42-year-old Jack Berry, had not been seen for a couple months. Investigators have not determined whether the dismembered body is the elder Berry.

Wallace says the investigation began Monday after the Arizona Department of Public Safety relayed a missing-person report about Jack Berry to Colorado officials.

Wallace says searchers found two large buckets of hardened concrete, which were then run through a hospital CT scan machine. The scan revealed body parts inside.

He says the search is continuing with a dog trained to find bodies.
