The parents of Madeleine McCann said it was a last-minute decision to leave their children alone on the night the girl disappeared from their vacation dwelling in Portugal, the Telegraph reported on Wednesday.
Kate and Gerry McCann said in a documentary that was to be aired Wednesday night in Britain that they had been planning on a family trip to a restaurant a half-mile away but chose to leave their twins and Madeleine at their apartment in Praia da Luz because they said they were tired.
Gerry McCann said that as the search for his daughter began, he felt “absolute devastation and total, just total emotion,” the Telegraph reported.
