LOS ANGELES —  A person with the Screen Actors Guild says the union has reached separate deals that will allow the completion of 90 independent movie productions if actors go on strike.

The disclosure came Tuesday as formal contract negotiations continued between SAG and Hollywood studios.

The person, who was not authorized to speak publicly about the deals and requested anonymity, says representatives of the productions have signed guaranteed completion contracts with the guild, which clear the way for film companies to raise financing and start work.

Neither the guild nor the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, which represents studios, would comment on the deals.

Both sides have been tightlipped about their formal contract discussions, which began April 15.
