Be Careful if You're Going to Take Brigitte Bardot to Task

Friday, April 18, 2008

She went from sexpot to crackpot. French former film star Brigitte Bardot went on trial this week for insulting Muslims, the fifth time she's faced charges of "inciting racial hatred" over her thoughts on Islam.

Once one of the most beautiful women on the planet, she is now barely a scrotum of herself — a wrinkled, deflated balloon smeared with makeup and ingrown hair. The 73-year-old had recently said the Muslim community was "destroying our country and imposing its acts."

I'm not sure what that means, for Bardot is nuttier than an elephant's bowel movement. Case in point: Most of her hatred for Islam doesn’t stem from their killing of humans — she's never been much for people — but its religious tradition of slaughtering sheep. She thinks its shear madness.

But we have to be careful when we start ridiculing her. The fact is, hate crime prosecution seems highly inconsistent these days — reactive only to complaints made by "anti-racist" groups only concerned with offending the sensitive feelings of radical Islam. This seems strange, especially in Europe, where radical clerics can openly preach the death of innocent civilians without risk of deportation or losing their government benefits.

So make fun of Bardot all you want for her crazy, cat lady ways. Just remember, she won't blow you up for her beliefs. She'll probably just pee down your leg.

And if you disagree with me, then you sir are worse than Hitler.
