Brigitte Bardot Goes on Trial Again for Insulting Muslims

Now some fresh pickings from the Political Grapevine:

Bardot's Blunder

French film star and one-time sex symbol Brigitte Bardot is on trial in Paris for insulting Muslims — the fifth time she has faced charges of inciting racial hatred. Bardot — who previously lamented what she calls the "Islamisation of France" — is now under fire this time for saying, "The Muslim community is destroying our country and imposing its acts."

Meanwhile, here at home, HBO’s Bill Maher and host of the political talk show “Real Time,” called Catholicism a "child-abusing religious cult," adding that the pope "also has a compound and this guy not only operates outside the bounds of the law — but he used to be a Nazi and he wears funny hats." He also said the Catholic Church's attitude is, "We're here, we're queer, get used to it."

Catholics are incensed and president of the Catholic Media Coalition, Mary Ann Kreitzer, called Maher's words "horrifying." She said, "Poor Bill Maher. We'll pray for him."

World Domination

As former President Jimmy Carter meets with Hamas leaders this week — a Hamas parliament member said the destruction of Israel is just a precursor to Islam’s domination of the world.

Yunis al-Astal said on Hamas run al-Aqsa Television, "Very soon, Allah willing, Rome will be conquered — this capital of theirs will be an advanced post for the Islamic conquests, which will spread through Europe in its entirety — and then will turn to the two Americas and even Eastern Europe."

President Carter has been shunned by his Israeli hosts and criticized by the White House as well for his willingness to meet with the terrorist organization.

Politics of Color

The founder of Black Entertainment Television and Hillary Clinton supporter, Bob Johnson, has waded back into the political fray.

Johnson echoed the words of former vice presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro that Barack Obama would not be a leading candidate if he were white. Johnson told the Charlotte Observer that Ferraro meant, "If you take a freshman senator from Illinois called 'Jerry Smith' and he says I’m going to run for president, would he start off with 90 percent of the black vote? And the answer is, probably not."

Johnson added that the Obama camp has "a hair-trigger on anything racial." The Obama campaign responded calling it's "just one in a long line of absurd comments by Bob Johnson and other Clinton supporters who will say or do anything to get the nomination."

This is not the first time Johnson has taken a shot at Obama. Back in January, while campaigning for Clinton, Johnson referenced Obama’s prior drug use. He later apologized for those statements.

Brothel Boss

Tehran’s police chief has been arrested and is under investigation after being caught in an underground brothel last month. General Reza Zarei was found in bed with six nude women after a police raid uncovered the illegal operation.

The irony is, General Zarei is in charge of fighting "vice" and cleaning up corruption in the Islamic state. His unit has even arrested numerous young men and women over the last month for having illicit relationships — and in some instances couples were flogged for dancing together at birthday parties.
