LONDON —  As news broke that Heather Mills was voted the most hated celebrity in the U.K., the normally blonde estranged wife of Paul McCartney was snapped at a New York-area airport sporting a dark wig and large sunglasses.

Mills, who was reportedly on her way to Los Angeles to judge a beauty contest, was caught on camera sporting black pants, a white shirt, a black jacket and carrying a plastic shopping bag, according to infdaily.com.

Sky News reported Thursday that Mills, who last month was awarded a $48.7 million divorce settlement, received 40 percent of the votes in a survey asking British TV viewers which celebrities they'd most like to "fire."

More than 9,000 TV fans voted in the poll.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown came in second with 13 percent of the vote, followed by David Beckham, who received 9 percent of the vote.
