Report: Mother of Heath Ledger's Alleged Love Child Says There Is 'No Proof'

Thursday, April 03, 2008

The woman at the center of the Heath Ledger love-child scandal says there is "no proof" the late Hollywood actor is the father of her 11-year-old daughter.

"You have no proof, there's no background, there's no grounds, there's no nothing," the Australian woman told a Western Australian newspaper, according to the Daily Mail.

The woman, whom the newspaper did not identify to protect her privacy, declined to answer specific questions about her alleged romance with the Australian born actor, which is speculated to have happened after he left his Perth home at the age of 17 to travel to Sydney.

"I'm not going to answer anything or go into anything at all," she said, adding that she's only concerned about her daughter's welfare.

"When you are considering an 11-year-old girl who has to go to school and be a part of society, that is my main concern," she said, according to the Daily Mail.

The woman's current husband, who says he is not the girl's biological father, said he was sure his wife would allow their daughter to take a DNA test.

But, his wife defused the question about their daughter taking the test.

"I'm not answering anything," she told the newspaper. "I think it's very, very rude that I'm being posed all of this. I really do. I can't talk about anything."

Ledger, 28, died in New York on Jan. 22 of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.
