BELLEVILLE, Ill.  —  A Collinsville man remains jailed on charges that accuse him of biting off the ear of another man during a Metro East bar fight.

St. Clair County prosecutors charged 30-year-old Stephen Markovic with felony aggravated battery over the dispute last week at the Neighborhood Inn in Caseyville.

Caseyville police aren't identifying the victim, but they say his ear was reattached.

Police Detective Steve Epps says Markovic created a disturbance at the bar and was asked to leave but returned later.

Epps says the victim was an innocent bystander caught up in the fighting that ensued.

Markovic is jailed on $60,000 bond. Court records don't show him having an attorney.
