Witness: No Warning From NYPD Before Fatal 50-Shot Barrage Killed Groom-to-Be
Monday, March 31, 2008
NEW YORK A back-seat passenger in the car of a groom-to-be killed by police testified Monday that he never heard any warnings before officers unleashed a fatal 50-shot barrage.
Trent Benefield, who was hit three times in the legs, recalled that moments after the shooting, he was held at gunpoint and handcuffed — even as he pleaded for help.
"I didn't do nothing," he said he told an officer. "I've been shot."
