Dos and Don'ts of Interviews by Personified's Aaron Walters

Tuesday, April 15, 2008

Q: What are the dos and don'ts of interviews?

A:Please dress in appropriate business attire. If you do only one thing when looking for a new position, it should be to invest in one nice outfit that you feel comfortable in and seems.

Q: What are the first interview tips for college grads?

A:It's easier said than done, I know, but just relax. What could possibly be discussed in an interview that could be so awful it would cause you to lose sleep the night before? You either have the experience or you don't. Don't lie about what you did in college or about an Uncle you interned for one time because lying will make you even more nervous. The truth will set you free. Ultimately an interview should be stress-free on both sides of the desk. Two people having an open and candid conversation about past successes and failures. Oh, and please, when someone asks you to name one of your biggest weaknesses can we all agree to stop using "I'm too organized" or "Sometimes I'm too much of a perfectionist"? We get it. You cleverly disguised a GIANT plus as something of a weakness. You're great. But be real and be honest. Seriously.
