Woman Suspected of Being 'Weather Girl Bandit' Captured

Sunday, March 23, 2008

The woman suspected of being the "Weather Girl Bandit" is in custody in Los Angeles, it is reported.

According to MyFoxLA.com, 45-year-old Felicia Ellen Jones was arrested Saturday afternoon in connection with four bank robberies in the Los Angeles area.

The Manhattan Beach Police say Jones earned the nickname "Weather Girl Bandit" because she allegedly handed bank tellers notes demanding money while chatting with them about the weather.

The FBI and police apprehended Jones after both agencies received tips from anonymous callers, claiming they recognized her in bank surveillance images shown in the media.

Jones surrendered peacefully after agents contacted her and arranged a meeting at a designated location in Los Angeles, accompanied by her attorney, MyFoxLA reported.

Jones is expected to appear in federal court Monday to face charges of bank robbery.
