Cops: Massachusetts Man Killed Over Loaf of Bread

Sunday, March 23, 2008

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. —  Police are investigating the stabbing of a 51-year-old Greenfield man Friday following what investigators say was a dispute over a loaf of white bread.

Police say Willie Donaldson was fatally stabbed by Lee A. Wilkins, 59. They say Wilkins and a roommate Thomas Webb, 62, were embroiled in an ongoing dispute about a missing loaf of bread. Police had been called to the home on Tuesday.

The dispute did not end then.

Police tell the Springfield Republican that on Friday Webb and his nephew Donaldson burst into Wilkins' room. A fight broke out. All three were injured and Donaldson died.

Wilkins is being held without bail until his arraignment Monday in Springfield District Court.
