Hospital to Visitor: No Horsing Around

Sunday, March 23, 2008

LIHUE, Hawaii  —  A horse is a horse, of course, of course, but the one brought to visit a patient at Wilcox Memorial Hospital was the wrong horse.

Hospital spokeswoman Lani Yukimura says a drunken man brought the horse to visit an ailing relative earlier this month, thinking it would cheer up the patient to see his stallion.

Yukimura says the man and the horse rode an elevator up to the third floor, where they were met and stopped by security personnel.

She says the patient was brought out to see the horse, but he said it wasn't his horse.

Yukimura says security then managed to get the man and the horse out of the hospital with only a few scuff marks.

The hospital has a pet visitation policy, but it's for dogs and cats, not horses.
