Sunday, March 23, 2008

TOKYO —  Two soldiers from the U.S.-led coalition have been killed in southern Afghanistan.

The soldiers were killed when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb in Kandahar province on Saturday. They were conducting a security patrol in the Zhari district along with Afghan soldiers.

The U.S.-led coalition did not release the nationalities of the two soldiers.

Last year was the most violent in Afghanistan since the 2001 U.S.-led invasion. The U.N. says more than 8,000 people died in insurgency-related violence.
