Cops: Mom Stabs Teen Son During Supervised Visit

Saturday, March 22, 2008

LARGO, Fla. —  Police say a Florida woman repeatedly slashed and stabbed her 15-year-old son during a supervised visit at a psychiatrist's office.

The teen is in critical condition.

Largo police arrested the woman after the attack Saturday morning. She remains held without bail in Pinellas County on Florida's Gulf Coast on an attempted murder charge.

Largo police Sgt. Mark Young says the mother typically gives her son gifts during the supervised visits. On Saturday, Young says the woman handed her son cologne, then used a dagger and drywall knife to stab him on a psychiatrist's couch.

The woman's ex-husband has custody of the teen, and Young says the 55-year-old woman has never exhibited violent behavior during previous visits.
