Rehabbing 'Jackass' Star Steve-O Blogs About Longtime Battle With Booze, Drugs

Friday, March 21, 2008

LOS ANGELES —  "Jackass" star Steve-O opens up about his life-long battle with alcoholism and drug addiction in a new posting on his MySpace page entitled "You Should All Know I Am in Rehab."

The 33-year-old, who was arrested earlier this month for cocaine possession and hospitalized at the Thalians Mental Health Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, says his troubles go back to childhood, when his parents began feeding him alcohol.

He writes: "Dad was a corporate executive whose job required the family to travel the world fairly extensively and both Mom and Dad were quite self conscious of how they were perceived by others. We were frequently on airplanes and, before Mom and Dad would find themselves in the
embarrassing position of being caught by other passengers with a crying baby, I was fed alcohol."

Steve-O — who was born Steven Glover — also writes about his mother's alcoholism, which he says was so bad, she even lied about having cancer so she could stay in bed and drink all day.

The star also blogs about his past drug use, especially cocaine, which he says led him to make "verbal and emotional attacks" on those closest to him.
