SEATTLE, Wash. —  Parents of a severely disabled Washington state girl who underwent a hysterectomy, breast surgery and medical procedures to stunt her growth said this week that the surgeries were the right decision, UPI reported on its Web site.

The parents of the disabled girl known only as "Ashley" said their daughter has not grown in the past year, will always be flat-chested and never suffer the pain of menstruation, said UPI citing a CNN report.

The procedure has been the subject of controversy since it was performed last year at Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Seattle. The hospital later said the surgeries violated state laws and the girl's doctor has since committed suicide.
