Tuesday, March 04, 2008

HARRISONBURG, Va.  —  Police say 28 people were hurt — none seriously — when two school buses and a car collided Tuesday morning in a Harrisonburg intersection.

Police have charged one bus driver, Harold Long, 70, of Harrisonburg, with disregarding a traffic signal in the 7 a.m. wreck.

Harrisonburg Police Sergeant R.L. Metcalf says the crash happened when a school bus and a car ran into another school bus. One bus was carrying middle school students and the other was transporting high schoolers.

Nine people were transported by ambulance from the scene, including the driver of one bus, the car driver and seven students.
