NEWARK, N.J. —  Two rival coaches have hired private detectives to investigate the "Bronx Baby Bombers," the New York City team that's playing in the Little League World Series.

The coaches were convinced that members of the Rolando Paulino All-Stars are older than the age limit of 12 years old.

But The Star-Ledger newspaper of Newark, N.J., reports the investigators did not find enough evidence to force the Baby Bombers to forfeit.

The paper says the coach of another New York team spent more than $10,000 on a probe that failed to uncover passports and birth certificates.

Many of the Bronx team's players are from the Dominican Republic.

A Little League spokesman says the team has "been through more scrutiny and has produced more documentation" than any other team in history.

The Bronx plays Apopka, Fla., Saturday in the U.S. Championship round in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The winner moves on to Sunday's World Series championship game.
