Illinois Man Pulled From Van Moments Before Two Trains Smack Into It

An Illinois man on Monday was pulled from his van minutes before two trains smacked into it, crushing it into pieces.

The 75-year-old mistakenly turned onto the tracks, and while police were trying to remove the car a nearby man noticed what was happening and got him off the tracks just in time, MyFoxChicago reported.

Police told MyFoxChicago the vehicle was hit by a train going between 65 to 75 mph and then about 25 seconds later was hit by a second train going in the opposite direction.

The man was charged with driving while intoxicated and trespassing on railroad property, the station reported.
