GPS Units, Armored Vest Stolen From FBI Cars During Holiday Party

Friday, December 28, 2007

PITTSBURGH  —  The FBI and Pittsburgh Police are looking for thieves who stole several GPS units and an armored vest from four cars belonging to federal agents.

The burglaries occurred on Dec. 13 while the FBI was holding an annual holiday party in a Pittsburgh brewery. Authorities say the equipment taken from three cars belongs to FBI and Secret Service agents.

No weapons, computers or credentials were stolen during the break-ins.

Pittsburgh police say a juvenile arrested Wednesday was wearing the stolen ceramic-plated vest when he was detained. The juvenile has been charged with weapons and drug offenses and receiving stolen property. It is unclear whether he will face federal charges for having the vest.
