Magnitude 6.0 Quake Hits Off Coast of Japan

A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck northern Japan Tuesday near the east coast city of Sendai, Honshu, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The quake's epicenter was reported at 38.550 degrees north, 142.050 degrees east, at a depth of about 30 miles.

The USGS originally reported the quake was a magnitude 6.2.

No tsunami warnings posted for the region.
