Woman Found Dead in Crash Vehicle One Day After Son Was Extracted

Monday, December 17, 2007

A 72-year-old California woman's son was extracted from a car and taken to the Northridge Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles Saturday after it crashed into a building on W. Ventura Blvd., but she was not.

It was not until a day later, when the woman's family informed officials that not one, but two persons had been involved in the collision, that her body was retrieved from the San Fernando Valley towing company's yard, the LA Times reports.

By then, she was dead. Even if she'd survived the crash, the likelihood of her making it through the night without medical attention is highly doubtful, officials told the LA Times.

The L.A. County Coroner's office is conducting an autopsy to declare the time and cause of her death.

"The doctors may have a conclusion after the autopsy if this person died instantly or not," L.A. County Coronor office spokesperson Lt. John Kades told the LA Times.
