Family Pleads for Safe Return of Missing Pregnant Attorney

Saturday, December 08, 2007

TOLEDO, Ohio  —  Family and friends of a pregnant attorney who was reported missing this week made a public plea Friday night for her safe return.

Karyn McConnell-Hancock, 35, who is six months pregnant, hasn't been seen since Wednesday.

Her father, Municipal Court Judge C. Allen McConnell, said his daughter is a caring woman, and he asked the public to provide any information they can to authorities investigating her disappearance.

"We're prepared even to forgive, if forgiving is necessary, anyone who may have kidnapped her or abducted her," McConnell said at a hotel conference center where friends and family held a prayer vigil.

McConnell-Hancock had been having trouble with a client and had received suspicious phone calls, her husband told police.

She was last seen at her downtown law office Wednesday morning. Her husband told police she didn't pick up their son later in the day. He tried to call her cell phone, but it was turned off, police said.

Police have not discussed the investigation.

McConnell-Hancock is also a former city councilwoman.
