TUCSON, Ariz. —  An 8-year-old boy has been found dead in hotel room and police said they were investigating it as a homicide.

Officers responded to a call Thursday morning at a Holiday Inn Express after another guest called police.

They said the boy was unresponsive and was in the hotel room with his mother.

Sgt. Mark Robinson, a police spokesman, said authorities were waiting for the results of an autopsy to establish the cause of death.

The child's name was not immediately released.

Robinson said the boy was from Arizona, but not Tucson.
