Arizona Woman Arrested as Suspect in Drowning Death of Newborn Son in Toilet

Tuesday, November 27, 2007

MESA, Ariz. —  A Mesa woman has been arrested on a murder charge for the death of her newborn son.

Tiffany Lee Hecker was booked on second-degree murder and child abuse charges Tuesday morning. Mesa police say the 19-year-old declined to be interviewed.

Police say Hecker gave birth to her son in a toilet at her home in January, then pulled the baby out, wrapped him in towels and put him in a trash can. A short while later she took the baby from the trash can and drove him to a Chandler hospital.

Hospital workers called police. Hecker reportedly told officers she did not drown the child or hurt him in any way.

An autopsy showed Jeremy Lee Davidson's death was not natural and it was ruled a homicide.
