Will Country Music Be a Cure for Hedge-Fund Victims?
Sunday, August 19, 2007
Country music bleeds of broken hearts, busted pick-ups and … hollowed-out hedge funds? It does now.
A new country song posted on YouTube might strike a chord with hedge-fund investors licking wounds from recent steep falls. It tells the tale of a hedge-fund boss left reeling after getting clobbered by the recent credit crunch.
“I bought a couple mortgaged-backed CDO’s and then the prices took a fall,” sings Merle Hazard on the YouTube video.
Donning a cowboy hat and sequin-embroidered blazer, Hazard dedicates the parody to “the hard working men and women at trading desks all across America.”
