Police Free Maryland Sex Assault Suspect By Mistake

A man suspected of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl is back on the loose after police mistakenly released him from custody.
Prince George's County police say that 27-year-old John Henri Palmont was accidentally let go Friday night. Palmont was arrested Thursday for the Aug. 3 assault in the Capitol Heights area, where he is also from.
Police say that the suspect knocked on the victim's door that afternoon and asked to use the telephone. The girl let him in, and then he displayed a handgun before sexually assaulting her.
Palmont's whereabouts are currently unknown.
