Prosecutor: No Criminal Investigation Yet in Missing Mom Case

Thursday, June 28, 2007

TRENTON, N.J. —  Investigators today searched the home of a man who flew to Italy after the Mercer County woman he was having an affair with disappeared.

But authorities won't say what they found.

They also say the disappearance of Amy Giordano is considered a missing persons case, not a criminal matter.

The Hightstown woman was last seen June Seventh at an East Windsor supermarket. Surveillance video shows her with her married boyfriend Rosario Digirolamo and their eleven-month old son Michael Digirolamo.

Records show Rosario Digirolamo boarded a plane at Newark Liberty International Airport on June 14th. That's the same day authorities were tipped off that the couple's son was abandoned at a Delaware hospital.

Authorities consider Digirolamo a "person of interest" in the disappearance.

He lives in Millstone Township (Monmouth County) with his wife and their one-year-old son. His wife was unaware of the affair, or the child.
