Cruiser Video Shows Cop's Last Moments

Tuesday, June 26, 2007

CONCORD, N.H. —  New Hampshire authorities today released video taken from a Franconia police officer's cruiser as he was killed by a driver he had just stopped.

Cpl. Bruce McKay had stopped Liko Kenney for speeding, and then stopped him again and pepper-sprayed him after Kenney took off.

The video shows Kenney sticking the gun out the window and firing repeatedly just after McKay steps off camera.

A passing driver who said he was trying to protect McKay then shot Kenney. That shooting was not captured on camera.

Authorities in Concord released the video along with photographs and about 1,000 pages of transcribed statements from witnesses of the May 11th shooting.

In a report, authorities said McKay's actions were legally justified, as were those of passing motorist and ex-Marine Gregory Floyd.

Floyd and his son — who was with him — say Floyd warned Kenney before shooting him. A passenger in Kenney's car said there was no warning.
