Kentucky Teens Arrested After Burglary Video Appears on Internet

Wednesday, April 04, 2007

BELFRY, Ky. —  Four teenagers were charged with burglary after video clips of them breaking into a home appeared on MySpace.com, sheriff's officials said.

Kayla Rose, 19, of Belfry; Nick Newsome, 19, of Crum, W.Va.; and two juveniles were also charged with criminal mischief. Rose was arrested Monday, and Newsome was arrested Saturday. The juveniles were cited but not taken into custody, Pike County Chief Deputy Melvin Sayers said.

Sheriff's Deputy Bill McCoy said the four broke into an unoccupied home, took several items and broke a door. Video clips of the four inside the house were posted on the Internet, leading to their arrests, McCoy said.

It's the second time in recent weeks that an eastern Kentucky teenager was arrested after appearing online.

Charles Jeremy Brown, 18, was charged with 27 counts of menacing, eight counts of criminal mischief and one count of criminal littering after investigators say they saw him on the Web site YouTube.com breaking church windows, vandalizing grocery stores and menacing workers at a drive-through restaurant.
