A New York elementary school teacher is suing the Long Island school district that fired her after alleging she was teaching witchcraft to her students, CBS 2 reported Tuesday.

Lauren Berrios is filing suit again the Hampton Bays school district for $2 million in what her lawyer is dubbing a "21st century re-enactment of the Salem Witchcraft Trials."

Berrios said she was falsely terminated in 2001 after being told she "entice[d] children into witchcraft and magic through literature."

Her lawyer, John Ray, said it's the case of a public school district pushing Christian values.

"There's unquestionably in this matter a question of church and state being not separated, but being brought together by born-again Christians in this school," Ray told CBS 2.

A school spokesperson said that Berrios' claim lacks merit, but in 2003 the school principal testified he thought Berrios was practicing witchcraft.

The trial could end this week.
