Bindi Irwin Says She's Excited to Continue Father's Legacy

Friday, January 19, 2007

LOS ANGELES  —  Bindi Irwin, the 8-year-old daughter of the late "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin, says she's excited to follow in her father's footsteps of working with animals — and wants to sing and dance too.

"I really want to continue my dad's legacy with wildlife work," said Irwin Saturday at the Penfolds Icon Black Tie Gala, which made a special tribute to Steve Irwin.

"Saving wildlife and singing and dancing is my passion," said Irwin, who was at the event with her mother, Terri.

Bindi Irwin will star in a wildlife series to air on the Discovery Kids network early next year.

Animal lover and conservationist Steve Irwin died Sept. 4 from the poisonous jab of a stingray. Along with Bindi and Terri, he left behind a 2-year-old son, Bob.
