Native American Skull Found on Long Island, New York

WATER MILL, N.Y. — A human skull at least one-thousand years old and maybe dating back three-thousand years has been discovered in the town of Water Mill, on New York's Long Island.
The skull, which was determined to be that of a Native American, was found on property being considered for a housing development.
The town of Southampton requires archaeologists to study land for Indian artifacts before a property can be developed.
The Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office has determined the skull may have been there as long as three thousand years.
The skull has been given to the Shinnecock Indian Nation in Southampton for reburial.
