"Currently, we are finalizing preparations for the departure," Defense Forces Chief Mohamad Anwar Mohamad Nor was quoted as saying by Bernama news agency.

Mohamad Anwar's comments came a day after Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi told an emergency summit of Muslim leaders that Malaysia was ready to contribute forces for any future peacekeeping operations under the United Nations banner.
