Two Suspects Arrested in Michigan for Bad Heroin

Friday, June 23, 2006

DETROIT —  Michigan officials say they've arrested two men tied to a lethal form of heroin blamed for more than 100 deaths in the Detroit area alone.

Wayne County sheriff's officials and federal drug agents say the two suspects nabbed yesterday sold a mix of heroin and the prescription drug fentanyl. That painkiller is 80 time stronger than morphine.

Officials from Chicago to Philadelphia have reported more than 200 overdose deaths from the combination.

Officials hadn't formally charged the men when they announced the arrests.
