Kidnapping, Rape Charges for Alleged Abductor of Alabama Lawyer

Friday, June 02, 2006

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.  —  Authorities have filed five felony charges in the abduction of a Birmingham attorney earlier this week.

Dedrick Griham is accused of first-degree kidnapping, robbery and rape. He is also charged with two counts of sodomy.

The charges were the first indication that authorities believed a sexual assault occurred during the ordeal.

The drama ended when police stormed a motel in suburban Birmingham to arrest Griham and free the woman.

Griham was released from an Alabama prison last year after serving time for robbery. He is being held without bond.
