Lightning Kills Two Boys, Man in Pakistan

PESHAWAR, Pakistan  —  Lightning struck and instantly killed two boys playing soccer and a man cutting fodder in separate incidents in northwestern Pakistan on Tuesday, officials said.

Saddam Hussain, 12, and Zain ul-Abideen, 10, died in Khar, the main town in Bajur tribal region, about 55 miles north of the city Peshawar near the Afghan border, said local official Mustafa Khan.

He said the two boys were playing soccer in a field during an electrical storm.

Also Tuesday, a 35-year-old man died when lightning hit him while he was cutting grass in a field in Chargori village, about 9 miles east of Khar, said another local government official, Amir Zaman.
