Tony Snow Is Moving On

Wednesday, April 26, 2006

Dear Friends of "FOX & Friends,"

Midweek, big news: Former FOX News employee Tony Snow is now a federal big shot. On Wednesday, President Bush announced that Tony would be his official press secretary. Immediately upon that announcement, Helen Thomas grabbed a bat and said, "Assume the position, Piñata Boy!"

All, right I'm making up that part, but I'm sure she was thinking it.

The reaction from Republicans has been good, but — surprisingly — the Democrat side of the aisle has been very positive for the White House. I just heard two Dems say that aside from Tony being a good journalist, he's also a fair guy, who they think will be a welcome face in the room with the blue curtain.

What you don't know about Tony, aside from the fact that he's great on television and radio, is the fact that he's a tall man, good father, fine dancer and has the second best head of hair on FOX News, just behind Judge Andrew Napolitano — "Tony" to me.

Speaking of The Judge, he has a new book out called "The Constitution in Exile: How the Federal Government Has Seized Power by Rewriting the Supreme Law of the Land." It's really good, and after you read it you may be so fed up with Washington, D.C., you'll want to take your cell phone in your closed fist and go slug somebody. But don't... that would be wrong.

Also, thanks to the hundreds of people who take part each day in our "You Choose the News" polling. Because there are so many good stories from which to select a program we have made the process a bit more democratic, allowing you to select from three news topics the one you'd like us to go "in-depth" upon the following hour. Not surprisingly the No. 1 and 2 vote-getters have been IMMIGRATION and GAS PRICES.

You know plenty about immigration, but think about this next time you pull up to the gas pump: Your bill may be $50-60-70-80, but it's a ton cheaper than the guy who has to pay for 747 fuel. We did an item today that airline tickets to Europe may double this summer because of the high price of petroleum products (including Vaseline). A 747 needs 60,000 gallons before they'll take off. The price to "filler up?" One hundred fifty-eight thousand dollars to fill up the tanks.

And here's the sick part: For $158,000, the fueler doesn't wash the windows!

Have a great day, and we'll see you in the morning on America's No. 1-rated morning cable breakfast show, "FOX & Friends."
