Jan.4-6: Sharon undergoes three rounds of emergency brain surgery following hemorrhaging caused by the stroke.

Jan. 15: Sharon undergoes a successful tracheotomy to help wean him off a respirator.

Jan. 18: Doctors replace a breathing tube to correct a technical problem.

Feb. 1: Sharon undergoes a gastronomy to insert a feeding tube in his stomach. The procedure indicates doctors are preparing him for long-term care.

Feb. 11: Sharon undergoes emergency surgery after doctors discover severe damage to his digestive tract. Hospital officials warn his life is in danger.
