'Buffy' Actor to Play Elton John in 'Him & Us'

LAS VEGAS Anthony Stewart Head, the British actor who starred as The Watcher in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," will play the Elton John character in a new comedy based on the singer's life.
The show, called "Him & Us," revolves around an over-the-hill, gay rock star and his relationship with his longtime manager and the rest of his eccentric entourage.
It is being considered for a fall start on ABC.
Head created the role of librarian Rupert Giles on "Buffy," a secret, sort-of father figure who oversaw Buffy's efforts to fight the black forces threatening mankind.
Older viewers might remember him as the star of a series of romantic, '80s coffee commericals made like a mini-soap opera.
John will produce the show — though he insists it's not that autobiographical.
"It's not about me, but about everybody we've encountered over the past 30 years," he said.
"It's an upmarket 'Spinal Tap.' I think it will be one of the funniest things on TV in a while."
