MIAMI, Fla.  —  A look at the impact of Hurricane Katrina (search) on southeast Florida:

— Six people were killed, including three by falling trees.

— More than 1.3 million customers lost power. Florida Power & Light said about 1 million residential and business customers remained without power Friday evening.

— Sustained winds reached 80 mph; wind gusts were recorded as high as 92 mph.

— An overpass under construction in Miami-Dade County collapsed onto a highway. No one was injured, but the freeway was closed for 20 blocks.

— Streets were flooded in Broward and Miami-Dade counties. Miami-Dade reported up to 11 1/2 inches of rain.

— The Homestead health department issued a boil water alert, and Miami-Dade officials advised residents experiencing low water pressure or no water pressure to use bottled water or boil water as a precaution.

— About 500 people were in shelters late Friday.

— National Weather Service meteorologists said peak measured rainfall of 12.25 inches was recorded at Homestead. Radar

— Three mobile home parks in Davie were damaged and one person was trapped inside a mobile home.

— The Port of Miami was closed to vessel traffic. Port Everglades was opened for smaller ships during daylight only.

— Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport reopened Friday with limited flights; Miami International Airport also reopened, but full operations were not expected to be restored until Saturday.

— Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami closed all outpatient clinics and its primary care center until Monday. Some 35 ventilator patients at Kindred Hospital in Fort Lauderdale were transferred due to generator failure.

— Public schools in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and a number of other counties were closed Friday. Several colleges were shut as well.

— MTV called off pre-awards festivities for the Video Music Awards, scheduled for Sunday night in Miami.
