Coldplay, 50 Cent to Play MTV Awards Show

NEW YORK —  Coldplay (search) and 50 Cent (search) have joined the list of performers for the "2005 MTV Video Music Awards," to be presented Aug. 28 at the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami.

"The addition of 50 and Coldplay to the line up of performers solidifies the 2005 VMAs as the ultimate combination of hip-hop, rock and pop on the planet," MTV President Christina Norman said in a statement Tuesday. "This year's VMAs will have more music and more performances than ever before."

Previously announced performers include Shakira, Ludacris, Mariah Carey, The Killers, Kanye West, Kelly Clarkson and Green Day.

The show will be hosted by Diddy (search), formerly known as P. Diddy and Puff Daddy.
