NEW YORK —  Mariners (search) pitcher Ryan Franklin (search) has been suspended ten days for violating Major League Baseball's steroids policy.

The 32-year-old has a 6-and-11 record this season with a 4.61 ERA in 22 games. The Mariners are currently in Detroit.

Franklin is the eighth big league player caught under the tougher rules enacted this year prohibiting the performance-enhancing drugs.

Orioles slugger Rafael Palmeiro (search) was suspended yesterday after testing positive for steroids.
