Shelved Jacko Special Ready for TV

Is the world ready for a "nice" Michael Jackson (search) TV special?
The special, called "The Michael Jackson Story (search)," was pulled off the air in November 2003 just hours before it was due to air on British TV after police raided Neverland Ranch.
According to reports, the show is now being shopped to American networks.
The special was significant in that it made no mention of Jackson's earlier legal troubles -- and was focused solely on his groundbreaking music and performance style.
Friends and family gladly cooperated with the special.
The show has been sitting on the shelf for nearly two years.
"An appreciation of Michael Jackson's music seemed a little inappropriate in the light of events so we decided to postpone," a British TV exec said at the time.
Ironically, the show was set to air on Britain's ITV, the same channel that commissioned the infamous "Living with Michael Jackson (search)" show with Martin Bashir, which stirred up California authorities to begin with. It was during that show Jacko said he still shared his bed with young boys, a practice he called "natural."
Producers say they are in discussions with ABC, NBC and CBS as well as three other U.S. channels.
